About Me

David Tubananayo is a Rwandan and Canadian entrepreneur with over 14 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity, dedicated to training and empowering individuals and organizations to protect their most valuable digital assets. He holds a master’s degree in Cybersecurity, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, and a technical degree in Electronics and Telecommunications.

David's professional journey spans prestigious institutions such as the Parliament of Canada, where he served as a public servant providing high-level cybersecurity support, and IBM Canada, where he worked in the private sector. Initially offering part-time cybersecurity training and consulting services, David responded to the growing demand by personalizing his offerings for clients, ranging from secure device selection to online safety and data protection training.

Through his leadership at Cyboks, David has spearheaded comprehensive cybersecurity training initiatives, delivering impactful programs to a variety of organizations:

  • Finbank, Burundi: (2024) Delivered managerial cybersecurity awareness training for leadership, focusing on risk management, compliance, and strategic cybersecurity behaviors.

  • CHUK Hospital, Rwanda: Conducted cybersecurity awareness training for 1,550 employees (October 2023).

  • Elections Canada: Trained 800 employees (2018–2019), working closely with the HR department on cybersecurity behaviors.

  • Parliament of Canada: Sensitized colleagues and members on day-to-day cybersecurity practices (2019–2022).

  • Gestion CIGA, Gatineau: Delivered French-language cybersecurity awareness training to employees and partners (2012–2014, part-time).

  • Electrogaz, Kigali, Rwanda: Provided IT security policy training and implementation guidance for managers.

  • SKOL Brewery, Norrsken Africa, and École Belge: Delivered remote and in-person cybersecurity awareness and data protection training focused on compliance with Rwanda’s 058/21 and GDPR regulations (2023–2024).

As a passionate advocate for education and diversity in cybersecurity, David co-founded MentorHerAfrica, a program mentoring young women from universities across Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, and other African countries to enter the cybersecurity field. He has also launched SECSENI, a mentorship program for seniors, set to begin in January 2025, focusing on equipping older adults with the skills to protect themselves online.
